'Tis the season — the season for gardening, that is. In my opinion, one of the best ways to start prepping ahead of spring is by taking account of what your garden needs, and for many of us a raised bed is on the list. If you fall into that category, then you'll be especially excited to hear that Costco brought back their popular self-watering elevated planter this year, made out of super durable Canadian Western Red Cedar.

The 23" x 49" x 30" elevated planter includes a self-watering system that allows plants to soak in moisture through their roots, a more efficient form of feeding. It also has overflow valves that prevent overwatering and root system water-logging. In addition to being a better way for plants to absorb moisture, self-watering feeders are also better for the environment, as most of us tend to over water our plants and rely on good drainage systems. Self-watering planters like this one allow the roots to soak in just the amount of water they need, when they need it.

Raised garden beds are a gardener's best friend for tons of reasons, but one of the biggest is to keep away pests.
